Changgyeong Restaurant
Ordered
Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew)
Review
While looking for a place to have lunch near a cafe, I came across a restaurant known to be frequently visited by local university students for comforting, home-cooked-style meals.
Looking up what people usually order at this local spot, I found that while everything is tasty, the kimchi jjigae is especially popular, so we headed there to try it.

After a short walk from the cafe, a cozy, heartwarming restaurant that truly feels like home comes into view.
Perhaps because it was a holiday, the restaurant was relatively quiet, and right after stepping in, we ordered two servings of kimchi jjigae.

After a short wait, neat home-style side dishes including various seasoned wild greens were served first.
We usually enjoy eating siraegi (dried radish greens), and the siraegi served here as a side dish suited our palates perfectly.
It was immediately clear why people described the place as having that comforting home-cooked feel in their reviews.

While enjoying the side dishes, the kimchi jjigae arrived shortly after.
When ordering for two or more people, it comes in a large pot so you can keep simmering it as you eat, whereas single servings appear to be served neatly in an earthenware pot.

A regular customer at the next table ordered cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew), and the rich aroma filling the air looked absolutely delicious.
Even looking at review photos, all the dishes seemed appetizing, and if I get the chance next time, I would love to try their other main dishes as well.

The kimchi jjigae was a quintessential home-style stew generously loaded with tangy aged kimchi and pork.
The rice was served in quite a large bowl with a generous portion, but engrossed in the meal, I ended up emptying the entire bowl before I knew it.

It was a delightful local eatery where you can enjoy a hearty, comforting home-style meal at an affordable price.
