Polaris Gelato

During my trip to Gongju, I used something called Gongju Pay. Wondering how to spend the remaining balance, I decided to visit a gelato shop I had scoped out beforehand.
Reviews praised it as a great gelato spot, so I headed over with high expectations.

Gongju Pay worked on a system where you scan a QR code placed at each store, manually enter the amount, make the payment, and show the confirmation screen to the owner.
Honestly, it was a bit inconvenient and tedious to use, but since it offered an instant 12% cashback, it proved quite useful for saving a little money throughout the trip.

We ordered two single-person cups with two flavors each.
For our choices, we picked pistachio and pomegranate sorbet for one, and matcha and chestnut for the other.

Interestingly, the owner mentioned that they could coat the pistachio with kadaif, so I got the pistachio coated in kadaif.
It was my first time having gelato coated with kadaif, and it had a unique, distinct charm.
However, because it felt like eating a pastry or snack, it did slightly detract from the authentic texture and essence of pure gelato.

The pomegranate sorbet was quite tart with a rich pomegranate flavor, which wasn't bad at all.
The matcha had an intense flavor, making it well worth trying for anyone who usually enjoys matcha.

Overall, it was a casual, easygoing gelato shop where you could enjoy simple, tasty treats without any hassle.

As a side note, Gongju Pay allows you to get a direct refund for any remaining balance, so there really was no need to go out of my way just to spend every last cent like this.
