My Remaining Romance

Honestly, I'm not usually one to watch dating shows, but I started watching this one out of curiosity after seeing its initial premise.
I didn't sit down and watch it with undivided attention, though; I just had it playing in the background while doing other things, keeping up enough to follow the general flow and storyline.

What set it apart most from conventional dating shows was the cast members' unique personal stories.
Rather than focusing solely on romance and romantic tension, it felt like a show about opening up about past wounds and experiences, finding mutual empathy, sharing comfort, and slowly taking steps forward.
Perhaps because of that, instead of getting swept up in the romance, I found myself focusing much more on their individual stories.

Every story in this world carries its own weight, but what these people have gone through felt like depths of grief and pain that no one could ever fully fathom unless they had lived it themselves.
If I were faced with those situations in real life, I doubt I would have even known what words of comfort to offer.

Even so, watching the cast quietly face their scars and carry on with their lives made me realize all over again just how truly remarkable they are.

Whenever I watch any content, I naturally tend to put myself in the subjects' shoes, and this was no exception.

It was a show that constantly made me wonder: if I were in that situation, what kind of mindset would have kept me going?

Aside from the show's content itself, on a personal note, I also felt that the commentary and role of the studio panelists were a bit underwhelming and left something to be desired.
