Myeongga Tonkatsu

I had a dinner appointment in Anyang, so I headed out a bit early.
I set my destination to a public parking lot near the market, but the lot was cramped with no open spots, and the waiting line was incredibly long.
Thinking it wouldn't work to wait in line, I quickly improvised and opened the Modu Parking app.
I bought a parking pass for a reasonably large parking lot nearby and quickly redirected my route, and thanks to that, I was able to park safely without getting lost.

After parking, it happened to be lunchtime, so I searched for good places to eat nearby.
It was my first time visiting Anyang, so I didn't know where the good spots were, but my search showed a popular tonkatsu restaurant, so I headed straight there without hesitation.
Turns out, it was a famous spot that had once been featured on Running Man.
Fortunately, there were plenty of seats available, so I could comfortably sit down and place an order right away.

The menu felt like a typical neighborhood tonkatsu joint, where you could simply order just the tonkatsu or get sets paired with udon, cold buckwheat noodles, or spicy chewy noodles.
We ordered the regular tonkatsu and the tonkatsu & cold buckwheat noodles set.

Uniquely, tteokbokki was served first as a complimentary side dish here.
It tasted like typical old-school neighborhood tteokbokki, but with a slightly unfamiliar sweetness added to it.
Personally, it wasn't quite my favorite style, but I still enjoyed it as a nice little treat.

Shortly after, the tonkatsu arrived as well.
The sauce wasn't the typical demi-glace sauce you'd expect from classic Korean-style tonkatsu (kyeongyangsik).
Uniquely, the sauce had hints of Beoljib Pizza snack flavor; it wasn't bad at all and unexpectedly paired quite well, making for a delicious meal.
The buckwheat noodles that came with it also had that refreshing, chilled taste I usually love, so overall, I left having enjoyed a very satisfying meal.
