It tragically expands the world-view established in the previous work Scythe, and delves into the depth of the philosophical questions that world held.

It seems to show the process by which the Scythe system, created for population control after humanity conquered death, is bound to fail.
Even in a technically perfect utopia, if an omnipotent AI does not intentionally control the situation, it is inevitable that it will collapse due to inescapable human ambition, cruelty, and desire for power.
This has been constantly proven in human history.

Thunderhead is a benevolent god who, bound by its own principles, must watch helplessly as its beloved humanity stumbles.
Sensing the budding corruption that threatens humanity, Thunderhead executes a subtle plan to intervene without breaking its own laws.

It shows that the world, which seemed like a perfect utopia in the previous work, has an inherent flaw called the insoluble human variable.

Now, the stage is perfectly set for the next series, The Toll.
