About this tool

How do I change an image's format?

Drop images in or click to choose them, pick the format to save as, then press Convert. When it finishes you see how each file size changed, and you can save them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in this browser and your images are never sent anywhere, so personal photos and documents are safe to use. Converting also removes hidden photo data such as the shooting location (EXIF).

Which formats can I convert to?

PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and TIFF. Photos suit JPEG or WebP, logos and screenshots suit PNG, website icons (favicons) need ICO, and print or editing work uses TIFF. AVIF makes the smallest files but only works when your browser can save it.

Can I convert many images and rename them all at once?

Yes. Choose up to 30 images, drag them to reorder or sort by name, date or size. A pattern such as 'trip-{n}' names them trip-01, trip-02… in list order, and 'Save everything at once' downloads them in one ZIP with those names.

Won't the background turn black when I convert PNG to JPEG?

JPEG and BMP have no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the color you pick (white by default). To keep transparency, save as PNG, WebP, AVIF or ICO.

Can I convert iPhone photos (HEIC)?

Most browsers can't open HEIC, so it isn't supported right now. Safari sometimes can. You can switch the iPhone camera format to 'Most Compatible' in Settings to save JPEG instead.
