Review

Since the shocking format had already been fully revealed in Season 1, I started watching this new season with high expectations regarding how the production team would unfold it.
While maintaining the existing framework, they actively introduced new elements, and the newly assembled cast lineup also caught my interest.
However, while I personally liked the format itself, I felt that the cast caused the show's core identity as a brain survival game to waver a bit this season.
Rather than a pure battle of wits, the season felt overly riddled with politics, physical aggression, and betrayals, leaving me quite disappointed personally.
While such elements are somewhat inevitable given the nature of survival reality shows, I don't particularly favor setups where the entire game is dictated solely by political tugs-of-war, as it significantly diminishes the inherent fun of the games.
Because the games themselves were well-designed enough, we could have witnessed far more intense and thrilling battles of intellect had they been played as individual matches or under fair-play conditions. It was deeply regrettable that devices like spy mechanics were introduced, cutting the fun of the actual games in half.
To put it in gaming terms, it almost felt no different than winning by using cheats.
Of course, in an extreme situation where real lives were at stake, winning by any means necessary would be paramount. But this is ultimately just an entertainment show, making me wonder if getting that overly immersed was really necessary.
I felt fatigued by the excessive emotional toll and aggressive confrontations.
Of course, some might say that the provocative progression triggering extreme conflict through politics provided a dopamine rush and kept things exciting, but I believe this season will certainly polarize viewers depending on how they consume the show.
It was somewhat disappointing that meticulous rule design and intricate player strategies—the essence of a survival show—seemed to take a back seat.
While generating buzz for entertainment value is fine, in the next season, I hope for a more balanced structure where players' pure skills and cerebral play can shine through fully.
