Construction began in 1858 and was completed in 1939 — a building that took over 80 years to build.
Three spires dominate the Melbourne skyline, and the stained glass windows and arched ceilings inside are stunning.
The atmosphere was remarkably quiet and serene for a place right in the middle of the city.
It's a worthwhile tourist attraction regardless of religious affiliation, and admission is free.
