Review

It deals with the familiar historical facts of King Danjong's exile and death, but it was refreshing to see it told through the eyes of people on the periphery rather than central politics.
In particular, it is unique that Grand Prince Suyang does not appear directly in the movie, which seems to be an intention to focus thoroughly on the peripheral narrative instead of the spectacle of power struggles.
But it was disappointing that the awkward CG scenes in the beginning and the process of transitioning to the exile site were somewhat unnatural.
The excessive comedy at the beginning felt a bit out of place, but as the movie progressed to the latter half, the relationships between characters and the emotional lines deepened, leaving a strong resonance.
Above all, the dense acting of the actors is the movie's greatest strength.
In particular, Yoo Hae-jin's acting as the village head Eom Heung-do was excellent.
He firmly holds the center of the play with a delicate performance that oscillates between laughter and sorrow.
The emotional acting and lines of Yoo Hae-jin that burst forth at the climax deliver a heavy sadness and emotion that makes it hard to hold back tears.
There are certainly regrettable parts, but it is a work that provides a deep sense of immersion, as if the audience were not just spectators but one of the common people.
It feels like I've seen a good piece of work after a long time.
