Review

A work that well shows the bare faces of humans who want to survive in a pandemic situation.
The infectious disease Red Eye spreads among dogs and begins to infect humans.

Dogs who are slaughtered without hesitation are vividly depicted.
This book was also difficult to read because of the heavy emotional consumption.
However, these slaughter scenes overlap with scenes of slaughtering humans in the latter half of the work.
Ultimately, humans are capable of slaughter regardless of species for their own survival.

Humans who think such a disaster situation has nothing to do with them merely consume this situation.
Susan Sontag's Regarding the Pain of Others comes to mind in this scene.

However, it shows that the hope in such extreme situations is also human.

If a zoonotic disease more fatal than foot-and-mouth disease were to spread between pets and humans, rather than cattle or pigs, would they do the same thing they did to livestock? The author's answer is 'yes'.

Humans, as the top predators of the ecosystem, are fickle tyrants.
